First 11-Layer Blown Film Line in the Asian Market comes from W&H

 While 11-layer lines are already increasingly being used in cast film extrusion for special applications, this trend is still very recent in blown film. In summer 2018, W&H sold the first 11-layer blown film line in the Asian market. "We are pleased that the first 11-layer line in the Asian market will be a VAREX II from W&H," says Michael Fischer, Managing Director of the W&H subsidiary in Asia Pacific. The VAREX II with  2,600 mm width will be delivered in November. A large film producer uses it  primarily for the production of high barrier films.

W&H is Developing a Digital Printing Machine for Flexible Packaging

While digital printing is already firmly established in the label and commercial printing sector, flexible packaging continues to be a challenge: An economical and stable digital printing process has yet to be developed. W&H, machine builder and specialist for flexible packaging, has reached a first milestone in its development project with a machine concept for a new digital printing machine. Now the technology leader starts onboarding partners, including leading inkjet printhead manufacturer Xaar. The digital printing machine from W&H is based on piezo inkjet technology.

From Commissioning to Production in Record Time

Plastchim in Bulgaria successfully commissioned the second cast film line from machine builder Windmöller & Hölscher at the end of 2017. The Bulgarian packaging manufacturer has already been producing mainly bread packaging and laminating film on a FILMEX I since 2012. The FILMEX II was commissioned in only 9 weeks, while the surrounding production hall was still under construction. Only two days after the first run with melt, W&H handed it over to Plastchim for the first night shift. Two days later, the final acceptance by the customer took place with production within the promised parameters. "We are very satisfied with the fast commissioning and smooth handover of FILMEX II by W&H. In addition to the convincing technology of the FILMEX, which we know from our own production, it was precisely this comprehensive service from W&H that convinced us," says CEO A. Faik.

Achema 2018: Joint venture AVENTUS founded and product innovations presented

ACHEMA 2018 was a special milestone for W&H: Together with HAVER & BOECKER we founded the new joint venture AVENTUS. AVENTUS is specialized in systems for packaging free-flowing bulk materials up to the finished pallet. As a product innovation from W&H, the new FFS bagging system TOPAS S and the intelligent weighing technology EASY SCALE were presented at the fair.

Like new: More capacities for die head cleaning, so that your line will run at optimum reject rates

W&H's die head Service makes it possible to run a used die with the output capacity and quality of a new one. Contamination and signs of wear are removed by professional cleaning in the Die Head Service. The die head works at the highest level again. Since the end of last year, we have increased our capacities with a new hall for DIe Head Service at our headquarters in Lengerich with more than 1,000 square meters. Coordinated processes offer even faster throughput times. The result: For the customer, the blowhead service is an efficient plug & play solution for increasing the performance and quality of a system.

Hayat Kimya Creates First End-to-End Production System for Hygiene Products in Turkey

Hayat Kimya, one of the largest Turkish consumer goods manufacturers specializing in home care, hygiene and tissue has created the first and only end-to-end production system in the fast-moving consumer goods in Turkey. 2017 two new productions sites on the company’s premises in Kocaeli were opened. They have been specifically designed for manufacturing non-woven fabrics for diapers and product packaging. For the manufacturing of flexible packaging Hayat Kimya preferred W&H technology. The world-class plant includes MIRAFLEX and VISTAFLEX flexographic printing machines and VAREX II blown film extrusion lines, some with MDO.

Live: From photo to print in two hours

In March, the 17th Image-to-Print event of partners Janoschka, Nordmeccanica, Rossini, Siegwerk and W&H took place in Durban, South Africa, with around 100 participants. One of the many highlights of the successful event: the live demonstration of a job change in flexo printing in record time at Packaging World. In about two hours, a photo of the participants from the beginning of the event was processed in repro and printed by new printing plates live on the MIRAFLEX S in the highest quality.

Kendall Packaging adds 10c MIRAFLEX II AM Press Establishing Two Plants with Identical Platforms

Pamibro – a lasting success story

Ukrainian manufacturer Pamibro has been making paper bags for the construction, chemical and food industries at its factory in the western city of Broshniv for more than 20 years. The manufacturer recently installed a second W&H system, comprising an AM 8125 tuber, an AD 8320 bottomer, two TRANSYSTEMS automated material flow systems and an ARCOMAT 3 palletizer.
